Assemblies & Tutor Time

In light of our pastoral perspective, one could argue that the position of a form tutor holds immense importance within the school. Tutors serve as the steady pillars of support for their assigned students, acting as a vital connection between home and school, shaping the overall student experience. Despite the brevity of tutor time during the school day (07:15 – 07:30 every morning) and its non-quantifiable nature in terms of outcomes, a student’s progress within the school is undeniably intertwined with the pastoral guidance provided by their tutor. We firmly believe that the foundation of our pastoral vision is strengthened as our tutors purposefully embody and exemplify the ethos and values of our school.

Weekly assemblies are conducted for every student, featuring either Primary or Secondary students. These gatherings serve to commemorate global events such as World Space Week and World Literacy Day, as well as to acknowledge acts of kindness, adherence to school core values, academic accomplishments, and exemplary attendance.

In addition to assembly activities, students engage in a tutor program during the four weekly tutor sessions, complementing the curriculum with a focus on Literacy, Numeracy, Wellbeing, and a General Knowledge Quiz. Each student is assigned to a tutor group consisting of peers from different year groups, fostering a sense of community and promoting student guidance and leadership. This holistic approach ensures a well-rounded educational experience, aligning with the school’s commitment to both academic excellence and character development.
