iBOS Inclusion Policy The aims of our school are:

• A school where teachers, staff, and students are expected to support and extend the atmosphere of respect, courtesy, the love of learning and the value of friendship that is held dear at iBOS.
• iBOS aims to develop students to become well-rounded individuals. We aim to empower our students with the best tools and resources, making them capable in following and achieving their dreams, to become valued members of our global societies, and to allow them to make a positive difference to the world, wherever they choose to progress to.
• Students leave iBOS prepared for university. They are confident, contributing, and caring members of the global community and they have embraced the challenge of our specialized education. They will have gained the values that equip them to make a positive contribution.

This policy reflects the statutory duties of iBOS under the Equality Act 2010, including the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED), Children and Families Act 2014, and the SEND Code of Practice (2015). The school is committed to ensuring no pupil is discriminated against based on protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage/civil partnership, pregnancy/maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation. iBOS is committed to making all students feel valued and happy. Staff expect nothing less than this for all students. Educational inclusion at iBOS means ensuring equitable access and opportunity for all students, regardless of their:

• Academic ability or learning profile
• Ethnicity, religion or socio-economic background
• Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND)
• English as an Additional Language (EAL)
• Gender identity or sexual orientation
• Mental health or social care status Our curriculum, teaching strategies, and enrichment opportunities are designed to remove barriers to achievement and support participation for all pupils. Our carefully devised learning plans make sure no student or group of students are left to struggle with our courses. All students are given every opportunity to expand their knowledge and their love of learning. We expect all our students to make great progress in their individual learning journeys and staff are ready and able to provide effective and specialized support, when and if it becomes apparent a student is struggling. We aim to make all students feel safe and relaxed at school to enable them to shine and make positive contributions at school and to society in general. The school recognises that inclusion is a safeguarding issue. We follow the expectations of KCSIE 2024 in supporting pupils’ mental health and recognising early signs of distress or exclusion. This includes targeted intervention, access to pastoral care, and referral to external agencies where appropriate. Social inclusion at iBOS means a place where all groups of students from around the world feel free to build, strong relationships with their peers and their teachers. Where they feel valued and respected, and it is our greatest wish that they feel they belong at iBOS.

We ensure students feel safe at iBOS and are ready to make very positive contributions to our school. Should a student have social or emotional difficulties we are ready and able to fully support them and will work with them and their families on a range of interventions. These interventions may include mentoring, counselling, academic mentoring, restorative support, or structured wellbeing plans. All parents are engaged in working in partnership with our school this is how we build a cohesive and harmonious community. This document should be read alongside the iBOS SEND Policy to ensure that all relevant areas are addressed.
