Why iBOS Secondary

A real school behind every screen.

iBOS teachers deliver lessons from the school’s London base, which supports consistent teaching, safeguarding oversight and the accountable school structure families expect.

01

Real teachers, live from London

Every lesson is taught live by a UK-qualified teacher from the iBOS school building in London, not from home. Pupils answer, ask their own questions and work through tasks while the teacher checks understanding.

02

Progress you can see

Teachers question pupils, check understanding and respond during the lesson. Assessed work and direct feedback give each pupil a clear next step, so families understand progress before gaps become entrenched.

03

Recognition you can check

iBOS is accredited by the Department for Education after an Ofsted inspection found the school met all the minimum standards, and is accredited by the Council of International Schools. The primary records are public.

04

Flexible schooling that is still a school

For pupils who need a different setting, including young athletes and performers, the timetable, attendance and qualifications stay those of one accountable school. Learning-support needs are discussed openly with Admissions before a place is offered.

Secondary at iBOS

Breadth first, then a focused International GCSE pathway.

Subject choices, results and future plans are discussed as one pathway, alongside form time, assemblies, pastoral care and enrichment, so secondary school is never reduced to exam preparation alone.

Key Stage 3 · Years 7–9

Breadth before specialism

A broad academic foundation before option choices narrow the programme. Live lessons develop knowledge, discussion, independent study and the habits needed for public examinations.

  • English Language, English Literature and Mathematics
  • Biology, Chemistry and Physics
  • Humanities, languages, computing and creative subjects
Key Stage 4 · Years 10–11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSEs

Pupils combine core subjects with options. The current full package can include up to ten subjects; final combinations depend on the published offer, timetable and sufficient demand.

  • Core English Language, English Literature and Mathematics
  • Separate or double-award science routes
  • Language and additional subject options

Pupils can progress into Years 12–13 at iBOS for live International A Level study and university guidance.

6 questions

Questions families ask first

Will my child have friends and a social life?

School is shared, not solitary. Pupils attend live lessons, form time and assemblies with the same classmates, clubs and enrichment let them meet others beyond their timetable, and student council and leadership roles give them an active part in school life.

How many hours a day is my child online?

The school day runs Monday to Friday in UK time. It starts at 07:15 with form time or an assembly, followed by five one-hour live lessons with a fifteen-minute morning break and a full lunch break away from the screen. The taught day ends at 13:45; optional enrichment clubs run until 14:45 on club days.

What do parents need to do?

School staff teach, assess, report and manage the academic programme. Families support routines, equipment, communication and wellbeing, but they are not expected to replace subject teachers. A stable connection of at least 8 Mbps download and 4 Mbps upload is recommended for live lessons.

Are the qualifications recognised?

Yes. iBOS teaches Pearson Edexcel International GCSEs and is a JCQ-approved examination centre. Pupils sit the same Pearson Edexcel examinations and receive the same Pearson Edexcel certificates as candidates from any other school.

Can my child move to a traditional school later?

iBOS follows the British curriculum by year group, and pupils receive school reports during the year. International GCSE and International A Level certificates are issued by Pearson Edexcel, the same certificates candidates from any other school receive. Admissions can talk through a planned move at the family interview.

Can my child join during the school year?

Yes, where a place is available in the right year group. Admissions agrees a start date with the family, and teachers plan support to help pupils who join mid-year catch up with their class.
