iBOS Newsletter – November 2021

Farshad Mohammadi – Founding Principal of iBOS

Message from the Principal

I’m very pleased that iBOS has launched a newsletter. We aim to publish this every half term to communicate to you news on the school, activities that have been taking place and upcoming events.
We had a very successful start to the school year and the new students and staff have settled in well. Our student body has grown dramatically this year and we expect even more growth in the future.

Our other recent big news was that we received full membership of Council of Independent Schools (CIS) on October 21st, following on from our evaluation in September.
I was also invited to the Dubai Expo, which I attended during the half term.
Finally, I can inform you that I will be hosting a virtual coffee afternoon on Monday 15th November at 6 pm UK time. More information and how to register to attend will be sent out shortly. I look forward to speaking with you then.

Kind regards,
Farshad Mohammadi
Founding Principal

School events

The school year began September 6th with a whole school assembly. Since then, our new students have settled into life at iBOS. As well as their usual lessons, a number of exciting events happened this term.

Enrichment club taster day

Monday 13th September was the first day of extra-curricular enrichment clubs. Students could try out a number of different activities before deciding which club to attend. We are now running the following clubs this term.

Leo-Thompson

CIS visit

Mr. Leo Thompson from the Council of Independent Schools (CIS) spent two days virtually inspecting the school on September 15th and 16th. He met with Staff, Students and Parents as well as observing numerous lessons across all year groups. The feedback we received was very positive and we are awaiting the publication of their final report. Please keep a close eye on our website for updates!

CAT4 testing

On Wednesday 29th September the whole school was off timetable to carry out Cognitive Ability Testing (CAT). These are independent, online assessment that are designed to give us data to baseline student progress against and predictive grades. Students found the tests challenging but these will give us a vast amount of data to baseline student performance against, and enable us to better implement individual learning strategies for pupils.

Parents evenings

Its only the first term but we have already had parents’ evenings for all year groups. It was great for our teachers to get a change to introduce themselves and meet so many of you. Please keep an eye on the parents’ portal for the dates of the next events.

Student work

We are always keen to share examples of the excellent work students produce. Here are some highligts from this term:
Imran (year 3/4)’s English work for recycling week

Ali Asker (Year 3/4)’s Homework was to do with bullying and coming up with a message for bullies and those that may face bullying.

Dainius’ work (Yr10) for ICT. They were asked to sketch a setup of their ideal computing station along with labelled specifications
